According to some forum posts I had read at the time, I wasn't missing much by not playing 3rd and that the Crossbell series was more or less a footnote I wouldn't have to worry about. Several years ago, I'd played through Trails in the Sky FC and SC, and then went on to Cold Steel I & II, as these were the only games released in English at the time.
